Alfriston is an historic and picturesque village situated in the South Downs National Park, close to the Cuckmere River, Friston Forest and just three miles from the sea. This pretty village is famous for its medieval architecture, most notably the 14th century church of St Andrews on the village tye, that is affectionately known as The Cathedral of the South due to its size and grandeur. As well as a unique collection of independent shops and characterful pubs, Alfriston is a great starting point for stunning walks and meandering cycle rides through the Sussex countryside to other villages and the sea.
Glyndebourne Opera House and Charleston Farmhouse, country home of the Bloomsbury group of artists and writers, are both nearby. Not forgetting the Rathfinny wine estate, established in 2010 it offers a great day out and produces some of the best, award winning English sparkling wines.
